Didier Sapaut, graduate of Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA), has been involved in media and communication since 1982.From 1982 to 1990 ,he has been a senior executive of the French Ministry of Communications successively as Head of the Finance Bureau and Vice Director .
He has held senior management positions with pubcaster France 3, SOFIRAD and public service television company France Télévisions, where he was appointed Secretary General In1991, then Head of strategic development and international affairs. During his term (from 1991 to 1997), Didier Sapaut initiated and carried out a number of major audiovisual developments, amongst which the launch of thematic channels and the creation of Euronews, the pan European news channel.
In 1997, Didier Sapaut joined TF1, France’s leading commercial broadcasting group, as CEO of TF1 International, the group subsidiary for international coproductions and programs distribution. He was also in charge of strategic projects, including the news satellite channel France 24.
In 2004, he was appointed CEO of the documentaries TV channels owned by TF1: histoire (2004-2007) then Odyssée and Ushuaïa TV (2007- 2011).
Since 2011, Didier Sapaut is a consultant. He lead missions in several countries as Bahrain for the reform of the media legislation and more recently, Senegal and Burkina Faso for proposals of improvement of the public television.
